This blog post was inspired by a client of mine who was struggling with all the holiday sweet treats. If this sounds familiar give these tips a try.
1.Drink water, 4-8 ounces before reaching for a soda or sweet treat.
2. Commit to one day of having fruit in place of sweets. Your reward is self-love knowing that you are protecting your body from inflammation, reducing aches and pains, and boosting your immune system from all the infections that are everywhere this time of year.
3. If you choose the sweet treat, do so without self-judgement. Pause 1 full minute before putting the sweet into your mouth. Then pay attention. Enjoy every bite. Once you no longer taste it, stop eating. Hold yourself with compassion. It is neither good or bad, it just is.
Sometimes an affirmation helps distract ourselves when the craving or temptation feels overwhelming. Give this one a try:
"Taking care of myself feels good."
